Dr. Matthias Mörz holds a professorship in the field of communications engineering, signal processing, sensors and electronics at the University of Applied Sciences in Coburg (Bavaria, Germany). He received the Dipl.-Ing. and the Dr.-Ing. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technische Universität München (TUM), Germany. Prior to founding aspien GmbH in 2005, he worked under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. H.c. Joachim Hagenauer at the Institute for Communications Engineering (LNT, TUM) and at different locations of Bell Labs Lucent Technologies in Murray Hill (NJ, USA), Swindon (United Kingdom) and Holmdel (NJ, USA). Matthias published more than 17 scientific papers and filed several patents. He was awarded the first prize in the Siemens Technology-to-Business Center Competition 2004 (Berkely, CA, USA) and the second prize in the Munich Business Plan Competition 2004.
As entrepreneur, he set up the company’s office in downtown Munich and developed an international client base. From the beginning of his career, Matthias headed multi-national engineering teams and managed various development projects with renowned customers in the broad area of communications engineering.
